VYASA PUJA 2001

Download the 2001 Vyasa Puja book here (Only available from June 9th)

Dear Godbrothers, Godsisters, Aspiring Disciples, and Friends,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Gurudeva. All glories
to Srila Prabhupada.

Once again, we prepare to celebrate Sri Vyasa-puja and the annual tradition
of presenting our spiritual master with a remarkable and unique collection
of our written glorification and affection for him-the Vyasa-puja Book.
Foremost in this regard, I would like to officially announce Srila
Gurudeva's Vyasa-puja to be on Saturday, JUNE 9th, 2001.

Disciples in Canada and the United States should observe the traditional
half-day fast and guru-worship on the actual day itself. Disciples in
Europe, the United Kingdom, South Africa, India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan,
the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, the Fiji Islands, Australia and New
Zealand, should observe Srila Gurudeva's Vyasa-puja on Sunday, June 10th.

It is not yet known where Srila Gurudeva will celebrate with his disciples.
This will be announced in the future. In the meantime, please be guided
by the following details regarding the Vyasa-puja book and submission of
homages.

1. VYASA-PUJA BOOK 2001 will be published again in Fiji. Overseeing
production this year is our godbrother, Visvanatha Prabhu in Suva. All
questions pertaining to your offerings, deadlines, and other related
details should be addressed to him directly.

2. EACH AREA where there are disciples has its own representative who will
be responsible for coordinating the collection and submission of Vyasa-puja
offerings to be included in the Vyasa-puja book. Each representative will
take care of making sure all the disciples in their respective areas are
properly informed about the deadline of submission and any/all other
details related. The area representatives will also be responsible for
providing copies in their areas as needed. At the end of this memo you
will find a listing of all the area representatives and their contact
information.

3. FORMAT GUIDELINES are the same. Please make sure all your offerings
are comprehensible, and readable if handwritten. Write/type full verses or
quotes if included. For those lending photographs, please lightly mark your
name and address at the back of each photograph. Photographs have to be
clear and preferably close-ups. All photographs will be returned.

4. DEADLINE: All Vyasa-puja offerings to be included in the book should be
in Fiji by MARCH 31st, 2001. Because of the tight schedule between the
production/publication and allowance time for mailing, there will be NO
EXTENSIONS. The book and copies should be in Dallas and ready for
distribution by the first week of May 2001 and no later.

With due consideration for all those working on the book, especially the
proof-readers, offerings received after March 31st will not be guaranteed
inclusion in the book. So please send in your offerings on time, bearing
in mind the deadline set. Note: Those who do not make the deadline may
send their individual offerings directly to Srila Gurudeva.

5. WHERE TO SEND: All Vyasa-puja offerings should be sent to the following
addresses:

TKG Vyasa-puja Book 2001 E-Mail: jairama@is.com.fj
Attention Visvanatha dasa Fax: ( 679 ) 393-107
P.O. Box 2183 Tel: ( 679 ) 393-599
Government Building
Suva, Fiji Islands

6. VYASA-PUJA BOOK FUND: In the past, we had always relied on book orders
and sponsors to cover the production/printing cost and other miscellaneous
expenses, including postage. However, in the recent years book orders have
decreased tremendously and sponsors have discontinued their support due to
their commitments to other projects.

SINCE this is a yearly tradition, whether we print one book or many, a
special support fund will now be set up to cover all expenses related to
the publication of the Vyasa-puja book every year. This support fund will
be called the Vyasa-puja Book Fund. In effect, all of Srila Gurudeva's
initiated disciples will be required to give a nominal amount of US$10.00
along with their Vyasa-puja offering included in the book-every year-as
their contribution towards this support fund.

To receive an individual copy, each offering must be accompanied by
USD$20.00.

Area representatives will be responsible for collecting from all those who
submit offerings.

*(No copy) = USD$10.00 each offering submitted
*(With copy) = USD$20.00 each offering submitted

NOTE: In consideration of economic and other factors particular to China,
India, and the Philippines, each of these three areas will be required to
give only USD$50.00, as the overall contribution from their respective
areas--regardless of the number of offerings submitted. However, in
return, each area representative will receive only one copy of the
Vyasa-puja book and will be responsible for making the additional copies
for the disciples in his/her area as needed.

7. SPONSORS: For those individual devotees who may interested in
sponsorship of the Vyasa-puja book, you may send in your contribution in
any of the following categories, as follows:

$10 - $25 = "sudama" level
$30 - $50 = "pandava" level
$60 - $90 = "uddhava" level
$108 - more = "radha-kunda" level

*** We request that the area representatives encourage as many sponsors in
their area. These sponsors can also help to cover the fees of disciples
who are unable to pay.

8. All laxmi and cheque/money order contributions should be payable to
Texas Krishnas, Inc., and submitted to Kamadhenu or Gita, or sent to the
following address:

Vyasa-puja Book Fund
c/o TKG Office
5430 Gurley Avenue
Dallas, Texas 75223, U.S.A.

9. All announcements will be posted on our web site at goswami.com and to
the disciple conference as well. Should you have any questions or
comments, or need more information, you can contact Visvanatha Prabhu or
myself, or any of the area representatives listed below.

Thank you all for your cooperation. All glories to Srila Gurudeva!

Your servant,
Kamadhenu devi dasi
